So far we have got the paladin set up cahnnel wise and bound a receiver. Making radios work with sound systems acn be a bit tricky though so here goes.

With most radios and sound systems you can use either dual rates or mixes to get the trigger points needed. With Beier systems that have 10 to 16 channels available via sbus, ibus or sumd it gets a bit more tricky. Some radios, like Spektrum, dont do any of those serial connection methods and need to use a compatible receiver that does (e.g Orange RX or Lemon).  With the Paladin we are spoilt for choice as it will output Sbus or Ibus serial signals. Of course if you have another type of system in your truck and dont need all those channels then just skip this section.

Our first stop is to the RX Set up menu and then the Custom Port Protocol.

In the above picture I have chosen SBUS, my truck was already set up for Sbus and so I chose that. One advantage in doing it this way is that I can use a smaller receiver, in this case I used an FTR4s.

Most systems available now use specified points on the channel throw to allow selection of different actions. On the MFU1 they are 100% and 140% of the stick throw, the 100% being learnt during the teach process. On the MFU3 it is a bit more lenient and you can choose yourself. On others you either have a similar set up ofr a 50/100% or selectable. The Beier systems come with a default 50/100% but you can set them yourself.

The Paladin has a couple of ways in which you can achieve these settings. You can use DR (Dual Rates) or mixing. The paladin has 10 dual rates and 20 mixes. I would go for DR as it is the easiest to set up.

find the DR Set up menu item and select it. Here you can enable DR for up to 10 channels or more correctly functions.

Below you can see what I mean by Functions.

This is quite straightforward so lets go. Tap the DR no that you want to use. and tap the function box and select the function you want to enable the dual rate for. Tap the switch box and select the switch and the position that you want the dual rate to activate in. If you dont want to use a switch the select the little bars at the top then Closed enables at all times an open turns off at all times. Now tap the mode box , here you can choose the work mode in which you want the dual rate to work, you can choose none, either or both.

Thats it so far as enabling DR is concerened but how do you set the rate?

Find the Function Rate menu item and select it.

Now select the function that you want to set the dual rate for and the next screen appears.

Move the switch to the position you want to set a rate for then use the + and - buttons to set the ratefor that position then flip the switch and set the rate for the other position.

For the MFU 1 you should use 100 and 66%. The Beier systems work well with 50 and 100%, Mfu 3 will learn so the choice is yours.

Just repeat the process for each of the functions that you want the dual rates active in.

Have fun!
