I am a little bit tardy on writing this, in my defence we have had a busy few months. I guess it all started with the Devon Truck show.
It was rather wet and the marquees could not be erected on the grass. they were put up on the concrete runways but that caused a delay. Our marquee was also smaller than we had been told. Once again we all pulled together and put on a show. Friday night was wet and water ran through the marquee so we had to dry the track off. When it came to packing up there was a lot of mud and junk on the roadway. More later.
Cornwall was worse, bad weather meant our marquee could not be erected so a scrable around and we managed with four pop ups and a party tent (thanks to the Hills and one of the truckers).
So come the summer we had a bit to do. You will have seen some of it (e.g. the new box crossroads, snack van and various bits, silo tower etc). There is more in preparation but come September our biggest concern was the state of the roadway. We booked the hall for the Saturday but could not get in until 17:00. around 6 of us arrived with the track, layed out tables and washed the track outside, dried it, repaired bits, consigned some to the skip, marked it up so we know what's what. Inventoried it ( I must attend to that) and layed it out as close as possible to the layout. Sunday was normal but it seemed to take forever to get the layout done. Suffice to say that we were all shattered!
It was fantastic to get back to the meetings. Over 40 drivers made the meet and make the club what it is. This one was really good and is the first of our 4th year. There was a lot of relaxed chatter but not a lot of driving for me, but others filled the roads. What did you think of the layout?
A quick reminder that our AGM will be during the October meeting and that membership renewals are now due, thanks to all those that signed up in September.
Well on to the pictures.
