First we would like to wish you all a happy new year and hope you all had a great Christmas.
Having missed the December meeting due to illness I was looking forward to this meeting. Actually having this meeting was a bit of a challenge as Robs van had suffered an attack by rodents who chewed through the fuel line. The van is now awaiting repair. Our backup plan also failed, our backup driver having swanned off on a foreign holiday. Rich Skuse kindly stepped in and towed the trailer down to Weston., so you all owe Rich a big thank you.
You may of noticed that Stu was missing as well, he was off getting some training as a fire marshall for motor racing. The build team was therefore two men down so another big thank you to those members that turned up early and helped set up the layout.
It was great to be able to, once again, chat with people within the hobby (and sell a few bits!). Attendance in January is always down a bit so it was quite surprising to have 35 drivers and 17 spectators. The whole day had a nice, relaxed feel to it and I did do quite a bit of chatting, plus looked at one transmitter.
The TX had a very stiff left stick, after opening the tx and stripping the gimbal down the stiffness was not there but back after re-assembly. I could only conclude that one pivot had got bent, possibly by being dropped or something dropping on it. Although the tx still worked it had caused a runaway and it is ageing technology so the best advice was to replace it with something like a flysky fs-i6s.
Over the last few months I have been 3d printing a D6T bulldozer and this was its first outing, I have to say I am very pleased with it. I have a few things to finish off plus I think the holders for the blades actuators are upside down. I'll do something on the build when I get a moment.
The quality of the yards and trucks continues to go up, I wish my brain was as inventive as some of you. My favourite this month is the Topgun truck and the new little road roller.
The gloss did come off a bit when john reported that the battery for his topgun truck disappeared whilst he went for a circuit. This is the second or third such incident and needless to say, we can well do without it. If we catch the perpetrator then they will not be welcome at any rc events. Sorry to end with this. We as a club do all we can to ensure the security of the hall but we cannot be everywhere and sadly cannot be responsible for the security of your personal items. It has to be your responsibility to keep your "stuff" safe.
Lastly a big thanks to the support crew for all their help, to Nicola who came along whilst recovering from the lurgi, and to Lin and Mandie for looking after the drinks and snacks.
On to the pictures.
