A nice relaxed meet, with as much socialising going on as driving.

Due to holidays and other commitments, the yard uptake was slightly lower than normal, but as always the standard of yards was excellent, with a great level of detail.

We held our first Driver Challenge of 2025, a timed run, starting on the loading bay, a circuit of most of the layout, and reverse back on the bay. Congratulations to Ryan Cole who successfully completed the challenge in the fastest time of 1 minute, 53.70 seconds, with another four drivers finishing the challenge in under 2 minutes, so a very competitive effort. Even our Junior members had a go, and all finished with respectable times only a few seconds over 2 minutes. Thanks to all those who participated.

It was a very cold and dull February day, with no winter sunshine, so that allowed us to dim the lights, close the blinds, and have a bit of a night run. With most trucks present, driving around it was good to see the hall glimmering in multi coloured lights, again thank you to all those who took part.

We have issued around 150 personalised “Property of” labels to a number of our members to enhance the security of their items such as batteries, controllers and other items. We want all our members to feel Weston is a safe and secure environment.

We announced our attendance at Devon Truck Show 2025,  some of our members have supported this show with an RC Truck display since its inception. Due to circumstances beyond our control, and to a degree beyond the control of the show organisers, our 2024 show season was challenging, but as always, we all pulled together as a club, and called in favours through our long established friendships to still deliver excellent displays. We have had a bigger marquee confirmed for 2025, and we are busy planning the layout theme for 2025, we have had an excellent take up on tickets today, and I’m sure we will have another great show.

Stu also announced Nicola’s and his intention to stand down from their Committee roles so they can pursue their other hobby interests. Stu remains a Director of the club, and whenever time permits will still attend club meets and provide support where he can.

The Club has a succession plan which allows us to reallocate roles to other Committee members and as required to nominate and co-opt new Committee members. We are therefore pleased to announce that Mandie Granger-Ball and Pete Gisborne have accepted roles on the Committee, Mandie will take on Nicola’s roles as Treasurer, and managing the Front Desk, whilst Pete will take on the bulk of Stu’s previous roles.

Please bear with us over the coming months as these changes take place and bed in.

As ever thanks to our dedicated set up and tear down teams, who make these jobs so much easier month in and month out.
