March 2025 - Club Meeting by Aaron Price.
March has seen another successful meet, the mix of yards were great to see again as per usual. The Plymouth boys & the C&J Recovery yards were stacked full of trucks and contained great detail as always, no matter how closely you look, you always spot something different the next time you look.
Also whilst walking round during the day the C&J Recovery boys were doing a little recovery on the road which was fascinating to watch.
There was also a lot of stuff for sale at this meeting and from what I was seeing and hearing a fair few bits were being sold. I also was aware that a member was selling trucks on behalf of a friend that had sadly passed away. It’s nice to see the ‘community spirit’ that exists within this hobby.
At this meet Mandie took over the role of booking people in and managing the desk with a little help and guidance from Nicola, as an ongoing part of becoming the club’s new Treasurer. I’m not going to lie it was a little strange seeing someone different at the desk, but Mandie did a fantastic job!
Due to Paul & Lin’s absence we were down on the catering team, so no hot sausage baps, but thanks to Nicola and Jenny those teas and coffees kept on rolling. Also, whilst Stu was away at Castle Combe circuit doing his Recovery Team training, Pete did an excellent job in his new role, proving the club’s succession planning is paying off.
Unfortunately, I was unable to do much driving this month as I was busy helping another of the club’s members with a few issues that he had with his truck. However, I did manage a little go near then end of the meet when it quietened down a bit. This is what is great about this club is that even if you don’t do much driving there is always someone who can help you with a problem or just to have a catchup with.
I want to say another thank you to the setup and tear down team for the amazing effort you put in again.
So, a bit of a shorter meeting report this time but nonetheless overall this was another excellent meet, and we hope to see you at the club again soon.
